Season Greetings Okinawa Members and Friends,
Please excuse me as I interrupt your Sunday morning. I started this message as I heard the bang for the start of the Okinawa Marathon today. I truly hope this message finds you well and safe. I also understand you are busy with the year winding down, but please take a moment to see what Okinawa JALT has planned for you early in 2023!
First, allow me to take a moment of your time to introduce to you the upcoming Hokkaido Winter Language Teaching Conference 2023! This event will take place at the same time as the Sapporo Snow Festival. Please come and join us in this exciting event. If you are a JALT member, the event is free. Secondly, although the initial deadline has passed, we still have slots open for our Okinawa JALT members. Early bird registration will end on January 10th, so please reserve your place early. Remember to bring your warm clothes or plan on renting what you need. For travel, we recommend booking your flight and hotels early as the Snow Festival is very popular in the world. Also, please remember there is a direct flight from Okinawa that will take you to Chitose Airport. From there I have been told the venue is only about 40 minutes away.
Finally, we are looking for members to join our exciting Okinawa JALT officer team. There are many ways to get involved and stay connected with colleagues. Our regular professional development events will serve you well in the classroom, look great on your Curriculum Vitae, and if needed, help with promotion! In addition, our team is very fun to work with as we continue to develop events that are beneficial to all our members. Enter level volunteer positions are also very much welcome as we mentor new members to become future educational experts!
